Rosalyn Hill
Rediscovering the beauty and sadness of what was.
Author’s note: Rosalyn Hill was written after an unexpected encounter at a funeral with someone from the past. It explores the way love lingers even after it fades, how grief and beauty coexist in the same breath. The poem lives in the paradox of connection and distance — of looking into a familiar face and seeing both everything and nothing at once. Time and silence, once heavy with loss, become the healer.
Rosalyn Hill
I look upon the full moon tonight,
and it is beautiful;
Capturing love’s sweet embrace
sugary-scented jasmine, floats in the night air,
fragments of petals become dilapidated dust.
The cherry blossom spring holds my hand
as clouds swim silently in the sky.
Seasons welcome resolution;
the ocean of time, evanescently flows by.
Methodically, our eyes meet without want
across the solemn chapel on Rosalyn Hill.
Incense floats in the still air.
I carry the light to the candle,
flickering flames forming funerals-
Silence screams in solitude,
each tasting the bitterness of loss.
As the church choir plays,
the feeling of familiarity
trickles down my spine.
Our voices harmonious in unison-
true words spoken - we find
within the parallel noise of our mind.
Pleasantries and politeness prevail
as we stare into the looking glass,
catching glimpses of mingled past,
of scented peachy roses
Interlacing with rotten wooden planks.
We walk our separate ways
with a final embrace.
The symphony echoes in space,
as ballerinas dance with delicate grace.
Fragmented memories settle
in the recesses of our souls.
I look upon the full moon,
and I find
it is beautiful tonight.

Beautiful imagery
How you got this down is impressive. This much feeling takes will and precision to convey.
